Curriculum

We offer an engaging, inspiring and innovative curriculum which helps equip students with the skills, qualifications and experience they need to make a success of their lives. Our curriculum includes all the key areas of the National Curriculum and we teach a broad and balanced range of subjects. Students receive an all-round education paying particular attention to the core areas of English, Mathematics, Science and ICT. Our success in promoting literacy and Numeracy across the curriculum has been recognised by the award of the Basic Skills Quality Mark for the past twelve years.

All of our Key Stage 3, Years 7-9 students have the opportunity to study the following:

  • Design and Technology (Product Design including Electronics, Food, Resistant Materials and Textiles)
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • French or German
  • History
  • Geography
  • Art and Design
  • Music
  • Dance and Drama
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Education
  • Personal, Social Health and Citizenship Education

Key Stage 4

  • Additional Science
  • Business Studies / Business (Applied /Btec First Diploma)
  • Media Studies
  • Health and Social Care
  • Catering
  • Work and Enterprise Project

Some of our students opt for work focussed vocational training programmes which include Brickwork and Plastering, Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Hairdressing, Child Care and Sport and Recreation. Qualifications include GCSE, Applied GCSE, BTEC, NOCN and NVQ’s. Students may study up to 9 GCSE’s.
