Charges & Remissions

The governing body affirms no charges will be sought for any activity at Wallasey School which is a requirement of the Curriculum, but parents can make a voluntary contribution if they wish. Students whose parents do not make a voluntary contribution will in no way be debarred from participation of any such activity.

Charges may be levied however as follows:

  • Music Tuition provided by the Local Education Authority Peripatetic Music Service with remission for pupils in receipt of income support or family credit.
  • Refund of examination fees where a candidate has failed to meet the requirements of the Board (non-completion of coursework) failure to sit the examination or where a candidate re-sits an examination.
  • Loss or breakage of school property where negligence is proved.
  • Transport to any activity permitted but not provided by the school (e.g. Work Experience).
  • School visits which take place wholly or mainly outside school hours and which are not required by the curriculum, provided the charge does not exceed the provision of the visit.
  • Residential visits where costs of board and lodging occur provided remission is available to students in receipt of income support or family credit.
  • The provision of materials or ingredients required for practical lessons where the parents wish to have the finished product.

Remission of charges in areas other than those described above may be made at the discretion of the Headteacher or his/ her appointed representative.
